Alex Lucas, MS, NCC, APC

Psychotherapist

I view counseling as a dynamic process. If one’s humanity can be met with empathy and curiosity, true understanding happens. While we all may seek personal growth, I believe there are many routes and no final destination. Because I value a person-centered approach, I support the connection between the therapeutic relationshipand healing. Through embracing your individuality, I strive to honor your unique experiences. From this unconditional regard, I hope my clients will gain freedom toexplore their genuine thoughts and feelings. Once we discover our own resilience, it becomes a catalyst for reclaiming our purpose. Perceiving who we are often begins in childhood and adolescence. Therefore, I encourage awareness of our identity from an early age. Through a transpersonal lens, I facilitate your inborn sense of self to emerge. When creative expression, nervous system regulation, and somatic processing can be integrated into our behavioral practices, profound moment-to-moment changes occur. Together along a shared journey, I offer my clients more aligned ways of being. Empowering you to silence your inner critic, I invite you to replace judgment with non-attachment. By cultivating self-compassion, we allow ourselves to pursue greater cognitive flexibility and emotional wellbeing. Not only do such insight-oriented techniques remove unrealistic expectations, but they also enable you to transform fear, guilt, or shame into a meaningful life story. Rather than one-size-fits-all, I utilize a multimodal framework to ensure my clients receive the most customized care. Integrating mindfulness and acceptance-based practices (ACT, MBSR) in addition to motivational interviewing (MI), cognitive behavioral (CBT, REBT), and narrative therapy, I welcome the opportunity to develop a comprehensive treatment plan for all ages including children, teens, and adults.
