Ashley Skidmore, MSW, LCSW
Founder & Director
Psychotherapist
Welcome, I am so glad you are here!
As the founder of Skidmore Counseling, I am a highly experienced licensed therapist with over 15 years of expertise in working with children, teens, adults, and families. Utilizing a client-centered approach, I integrate systems theory to provide comprehensive support for clients facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, perfectionism, trauma, and personality disorders.
Drawing from a rich toolkit of evidence-based therapies, I employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and narrative therapy modalities.
In addition, I am trained in Polyvagal Theory and utilizes the Safe and Sound Protocol, offering an integrative approach that addresses both the mind and body. With a deep commitment to creating a safe and compassionate space, I empower clients to explore their inner worlds, build resilience, and move toward meaningful healing and personal growth.
I also offer clinical supervision to clinicians in training, fostering professional development through a growth-oriented, collaborative approach. Believing that supervision is not just about refining clinical skills but also about nurturing the individual therapist’s unique style and strengths, I create a supportive environment where supervisees feel empowered to explore, question, and expand their competencies. Through reflective practice, feedback, and open dialogue, I help emerging therapists build confidence and integrate theory with practice, ensuring they are well-equipped to deliver effective, compassionate care to their clients.
