Caroline Spillers, MS, LPC

Assistant Director of Pediatric Services & Psychotherapist

Hey there,

With over 10 years of experience as an elementary school counselor, and now as Skidmore Counseling’s Assistant Director of Pediatric Services, I provide therapy for children and adolescents ages 5–18, as well as offer parent support. I specialize in working with neurodivergent children and their families, with particular expertise in ADHD and anxiety. A child and their parents can expect a colorful yet relaxed office experience with a candle usually burning; always using much discretion for safety and sensory needs. It is important to me that parents feel I am accessible to reach and operate flexibly, as I understand the efforts required to balance work, home and supporting your child’s mental health needs.

I am certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Due to my time in education, I lean into the psychoeducation piece of therapy which involves teaching my clients skills (in a relaxed and fun way) to benefit them in school, at home and when amongst their peers. I also keep parents informed about skills their child has learned so they can model and praise as their child continues to progress. As part of my services, I extend the opportunity to help parents with any school needs, attend support meetings at their child’s place of learning and consult about exploring future school placements.

My work is collaborative, strengths-based, and developmentally informed. I often incorporate movement, outdoor time, creative expression through art and music, and practical organizational strategies to support both clients and caregivers. I also facilitate small group summer programs, including a well-received transition-to-middle-school camp. If you are seeking individual therapy, parent support, or a future group opportunity for your child, I would love to connect!
